Marcons Nasal Swab

A MARCoNS nasal swab is a diagnostic test used to detect a specific type of bacteria in the nose called MARCoNS, which stands for Multiple Antibiotic Resistant Coagulase Negative Staphylococci.

MARCoNS are strains of coagulase-negative Staphylococcus bacteria that:

• Live in the nasal passages

• Are resistant to multiple antibiotics

• Can form biofilms (protective layers that make them harder to eliminate)
